Dear Friend in Christ,

We hope you are all enjoying your summer!

This Wednesday, July 9th, we have another Rosary Walk through Central Park. We will meet at the big fountain in Grand Army Plaza outside the Plaza Hotel on 5th Avenue and 58th/59th Streets. We meet between 6:30am and 6:45am. If it rains we will still meet but then head to a nearby church to pray the Rosary inside. We hope to see you all this Wednesday!!

This Saturday, June 12th, be a part of an enlightening discussion. The CSPYA and YCNY have organized a Bible Study every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. We will meet in the back of the Cathedral at the Information Desk between 5:00 P.M. to 5:20 P.M. At 5:20 P.M., we shall head to our pews for the 5:30 P.M. Mass, which fulfills your Sunday obligation. After Mass, we shall meet again at the Information Desk and then proceed down to the Small Meeting Room for our discussion. Those who wish to join us for the study but cannot attend Mass can meet us at the Cathedral Information Desk between 6:15 - 6:20 P.M.. There will be someone at the Cathedral Parish House entrance to let you in until 7:00 P.M. The downstairs entrance is at 14 East 51st Street. After the study, we will head out to a nearby restaurant for dinner.

The Sisters of Life need our help! The mothers that they take care of need Metro Cards so that they can travel around the city for job interviews, errands, etc… They need $10 Metro Cards and you can mail them to the convent at: Sisters of Life Sacred Heart of Jesus Convent, 450 West 51st Street, NY, NY 10019. The mothers also need gift cards/certificates to CBS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, or any other discount stores. You can mail those along with the Metro Cards.

Our Beloved Holy Father, in his address to the Youth at Dunwoodie asked us:

“And what of today? Who bears witness to the Good News of Jesus on the streets of New York, in the troubled neighborhoods of large cities, in the places where the young gather, seeking someone in whom they can trust? How then can we as believers help others to walk the path of freedom which brings fulfillment and lasting happiness?

Click to enlargeWhat about today? What are you seeking? What is God whispering to you?

It is from within the Church that you too will find the courage and support to walk the way of the Lord. Nourished by personal prayer, prompted in silence, shaped by the Church’s liturgy you will discover the particular vocation God has for you. Embrace it with joy. You are Christ’s disciples today.

Shine his light upon this great city and beyond. Show the world the reason for the hope that resonates within you. Tell others about the truth that sets you free.

Take courage! Let your imaginations soar freely along the limitless expanse of the horizons of Christian discipleship.”

Fr. Aquinas Guilbeau, OP at the Yankee Stadium providing commentary for WNBC during the Papal MassAnd so with this I invite you to take part of this discipleship. Share in the opportunity to be witnesses of Christ. Email your friends, share to them the Hope that we have in Christ, especially through the Sacraments of the Church. Let us all together learn more about these treasures, THE SACRAMENTS, on June 28 by joining us as we spend an afternoon of recollection with Rev. Aquinas Guilbeau, OP. Thank you and May God bless you always.

What brings any Christians together is the revelation and acceptance of the truth….disobedience and protesting against the truth is what brought division of Christ’s Church in the first place!

YCNY is having it’s usual scheduled 2nd Saturday meeting at St Pat’s this Saturday 06/14. Please meet in the Parish House basement at 6:30. (Parish House is at 14 East 51st Street between Fifth and Madison).  The study will end at 8:00 PM and we will then go out for dinner.

Please make every effort to arrive by the beginning of the session! If you are late nonetheless, we will check the parish hall basement door (14 E. 51st Street) after we start at 7:00 to let in anyone who may be waiting.  If you are not there by 7:00, try ringing the doorbell and hopefully
we will hear you.

Dear friends,

Sunday June 22 is coming up. Our last YA meeting before the summer! That’s why we want to have a special program!

We will go to the EXHIBITION  Catholics in New York AT 3.00 PM (at the Museum of the City of New York, located at 1220 Fifth Avenue @ 103rd street)  followed by a REFRESHMENTS/ PICNIC in Central Park.
(Right across from the museum)

The exhibition will tell the story of how the Catholic community grew over the course of a century and a half, gaining a political voice, creating a set of institutions that reshaped New York, and facing and overcoming prejudice. Suggested donation is $9

Let us know if you can join us! Bring some food or drink to the picnic!  (the museum has a coat check, so you do not have to drag it while in the museum)

We look forward seeing you on June 22!

With our regards and prayers!
Sr. Monika and Sr. Mirjam
